Jerome Levy, M.D.

President and Chairman of the Board, VCNA

Dr. Levy is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Laser Surgery.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Society for Excellence in Eyecare.  Dr. Levy is Past President and Co-founder of the New York Intraocular Lens Society and he is President Emeritus and a member of the Board of Directors of the distinguished Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society.  He is a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery and New York Keratorefractive Society and is co-founder of the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Greater New York and New York Eye Surgery Center, in the Bronx, New York.  Dr. Levy is considered to be a pioneer in the ophthalmic ASC community and, with his leadership and innovation, has contributed significantly to the success and development of the ophthalmic ASC community.

Glenn deBrueys

Chief Executive Officer, VCNA

Mr. deBrueys is the CEO of American SurgiSite Centers, Inc. a management company of nine ASCs in the Greater New York and New Jersey area which also provides consulting services for ophthalmic practices to build their own freestanding ophthalmic outpatient surgery facilities.

Neil S. Levinbook, Esq.

Acting Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer, VCNA

Mr. Levinbook has He has been a practicing attorney for over 18 years and currently owns a multi-specialty law firm with an emphasis on healthcare, real estate and legal collections.  His firm advises health care clients in the area of corporate transactions, medical billing, managed care appeals and debt collections.  For the past 4 years, he has assisted in the daily operations of Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center, a New York State licensed Article 28 outpatient surgery center and its affiliated practice, SightMD (formerly, Long Island Eye Surgical Care, P.C.), in various capacities such as acting Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Consultant. 

Richard J. Mackool, M.D.

Medical Director, VCNA

Founder and Medical Director of The Mackool Eye Institute and Laser Center in Astoria, New York.  Founded in 1982, this was the first ambulatory surgery center in New York State.  Dr. Mackool is an internationally recognized expert in ophthalmic microsurgery, with several hundred presentations and publications on the subject, as well as being the author of two textbooks on the subject of cataract implant surgery.

Brian Wnorowski, M.D.

Vice President for Information Technology, VCNA

Dr. Wnorowski has been in private practice since 1993 as the President and Co-Founder of Shore Eye Associates, PA, with offices throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties, N.J.  He also serves as President of Ocean Regional Eye Surgery Center and Chief of Ophthalmology at Ocean Medical Center.  He assisted in the creation of iMedicWare, a leading provider of electronic medical records and practice management software to the ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgical center industries.

Leonard Bley, M.D.

Secretary, VCNA

Dr. Leonard Bley graduated from the New York University School of Medicine in 1989. He offices in New York City, NY along with two additional locations and he specializes in Ophthalmology. Dr. Bley has built a world-class surgery center housing a variety of the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies available. Along with his prestigious accomplishments, he is affiliated with Calvary Hospital-Brooklyn Campus and New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai.

Robert Nelson, PA-C

President, VCNA

Mr. Nelson is a Board Certified Physician Assistant and the Executive Director of Island Eye Surgicenter on Long Island, New York, a six O.R. Ophthalmic ASC.  Mr. Nelson brings 40 years of clinical and administrative experience to his role with VCNA.  Prior to joining Island Eye, Mr. Nelson served in similar Administrative roles at other Single and Multi-Specialty ASCs in the N.Y. Metropolitan region, as well as in Connecticut.  His unique combination of broad clinical experience, as well as management expertise affords him the qualities, knowledge and skills necessary to understand and run an efficient and successful ASC. He is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society and an Editorial Board Member of “The Ophthalmic ASC.”  He contributes regularly to industry publications.
